My Samsung Refrigerator Has Frost On The back Panel:
My samsung RS261 has frost on the back panel inside the freezer. The local repairman has been out 3-4 times trying to fix the problem. Samsung has been no help in helping me or the technician. This is the third time in a month that this has happened. Can someone please tell me what’s going on? Help please!
Hi, sorry to hear about the problem you’re having with your samsung refrigerator. Believe it or not this is a fairly common issue on these models. I just serviced one of these refrigerators for the exact same issue. Is the appliance repair technician that’s servicing your refrigerator a factory authorized technician? If no, that may be the problem. They have a kit out to fix the frosting issue. Usually the frost builds up so thick the fan in the back panel will start to hit the ice and make noise. By that point in the game the temperature has already suffered and is warming up.
Thank you so much for your help. Yes, the repairman works at a local repair shop that is authorized to sell Samsung. I will let him know what you said. Do you happen to know the part number for the kit I need? I really do appreciate you taking the time to help me out. Cheers
Hi, you’re most welcome happy to help. Good I just wanted to make sure he had the factory behind him helping him fix this issue. I can get the part number for you later this evening. I’m out running appliance service calls at the moment. Yes, let him know they have a new kit out that fixes this issue and prevents it from coming back. I’ll post back this evening when I get a chance and up date you.
Hi again, I finally was able to dig up those Samsung refrigerator part numbers for you. The first part number you need to fix this issue is
DA97-08061A. The second part number you need to fix this issue is DA97-08062A. Those two part numbers will need to be replaced. It’s best to let the refrigerator and freezer defrost for a few hours before the technician comes out. The panel is going to be frozen together and does not want to come out easily when it’s frozen really bad. I always try to have my customers unplug it the day before we come out with parts so the repair doesn’t take hours on end. Trying to manually defrost the inside with a blow dryer can be pain staking long and boring.
Have a refrigerator repair question of your own? We’d love to answer it. Ask a Samsung repair technician right now.
