Asko Dryer Drum Roller Replacement Dryer Repair Help

To start this article let me first say these units can be difficult to work on, if you understand schematics these units should be no problem for you to repair. Asko has several different variation of the same dryer on the market, basically the same on the inside just ascetically look different.

The drum rollers on a Asko dryer are located on the front of the machine. To replace one of these rollers is not going to be easy but can be done, exactly why I wrote this article for you.

Accessing an Asko dryer is done from the rear of the dryer, start by removing the three screws on the back of the dryers top, slide the dryers top off.  The dryers rear drum bearing is located on the backside, this is noticable by the four larger screw heads that protrude from the middle of the dryers back.

Removing the screws areoiund the back panel off the dryer followed by the four larger screws will relase the back panel, note the wires are short if one needs to come off take a picture beforehand..

With the back panel of the dryer off the motor and dryer belt will be visible, push the idler pulley (Spring With Plastic Wheel) to release the tension on the belt, lifting up on the front of the drum and pulling back will free the drum from the dryers body. Most European style dryers are accessed this way, Bosch does the same thing, it can be a pain yes I know.

Now the back panel, drum and belt are removed, lets procede to the front of the dryer, remove the screws around the inside of the door linner, very small screw heads. This is the way I make this repair, some will remove the entire front of the dryer if you find this easier be my guest. With the small screws removed from the inside door area, loosen and remove the two screws under the door hinge, now the plastic housing will separate from the front giving  enough finger room to hold the nut behind the roller in place upon next step.

loosen the one bolt head that holds the dryer drum wheel in place, slide the roller off and put the new one on the bolt shaft. Next is the fun part and why some remove the front of the dryer, the nut that is behind the housing will need to be put back in place in order to secure the drum roller, pushing the plastic from the front of the dryer should give enough hand room to hold the roller shaft nut in place.

Once the nut is in place the job is almost done, reassemble the dryer and for proper function.

If you have made it this far great job!
